Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) says it has arrested some suspected Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) militants. According to the secret service, one Selky Torughedi, a suspected member of NDA and associate of Tompolo, was arrested for planning to assassinate a serving military officer in Kaduna state. “In a bid to stem the activities of vandals in the Niger Delta, this service effected the arrest of Selky Kile Torughedi, on 17 th June, 2016, in Calabar, Cross River state,” the DSS said in the statement issued by Tony Opuiyo. “Torughedi is an ex-militant and suspected member of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), and was arrested for planning to assassinate one MB Yahaya, a serving military officer. “Torughedi, who is a close associate of Government Ekpemupolo (a.k.a Tompolo), had already conducted surveillance at the residence of Yahaya in Kaduna, preparatory to his plot when he was intercepted. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East has advised Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu to resign from their posts to focus on their defence in the forgery trial. The APC joined the presidency in advising all principal officers of the National Assembly to resign, after the accused persons all pleaded not guilty and called the accusations as an attack on Nigerian democracy. The APC's Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hyacinth Ngwu said that it was more honourable to throw in the towel instead of writing letters seeking international intervention. Deputy Senator, Ike Ekweremadu was reported to have called for international intervention from the US Congress, United Kingdom, United Nations, European Union Parliament and foreign missions in his forgery trial. Lizzy, a sex worker at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, reported that she used to make around #15,000 before Ramadan but has made onlyaround #5,000 since the Holy month began. When questioned over her reasons for continuing her trade through Ramadan, Lizzy was unable to provide an answer. Despite the stigma surrounding the sex trade, prostitutes have developed strategies to maximize profit since a ban on sex work was instituted in the state in June 2013. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Community Court of Justice has indefinitely adjourned the ruling in the case of former national security adviser , Sambo Dasuki (rtd) against the federal government, Vanguard reports. Justice Friday Nwoke, who presided over the court on May 16 reserved judgment till Thursday, June 30, 2016 after taking final argument from the former NSA’s counsel, Robert Emukperuo and the federal government lawyer, Tijani Gazali. Dasuki was taken by the federal government before the ECOWAS Court praying the regional court to intervene in his detention without trial since December, 2015. The ex-NSA asked the court to void his detention, the seizure of his properties and to prevent the federal government from continuously holding him in custody, without a legal court order. In the court action filed by Dasuki’s counsel, Robert Emukpoeruo, Dasuki told the court to award in his favour a sum of #500 million as compensatory damages for the alleged
