It's hilarious as prostitutes across Lagos State have cried out
over low patronage during the month of Ramadan, as reported by Naij news.
Sex workers have reported losses of around #10,000 per night as opposed to their usual revenue and as thus blame this situation on the fasting period.
Lizzy, a sex worker at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, reported that she used to make around
#15,000 before Ramadan but has made onlyaround #5,000 since the Holy month began.
When questioned over her reasons for continuing her trade through Ramadan, Lizzy was unable to provide an answer.
Despite the stigma surrounding the sex trade, prostitutes have developed strategies to
maximize profit since a ban on sex work was instituted in the state in June 2013.
Prostitutes in the state have taken to hawking sex-boosting drugs in addition to their usual
services, promising customers a good time that is well worth the amount they pay.
