The Lagos State Police has arrested a 25-year-old thief who abandoned his mission to watch a couple having sex in their apartment at Innocent Amadi Street (Mercy Estate) Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos State. The thief identified as Uchenna Ebube slept off in the process and was nabbed after Mr. Idris Olumo and his wife finished up and met him in their living room by 4 a.m. Upon being interrogated, Uchenna said he was at the couple's apartment to steal valuables after gaining entrance through the window. He was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, after being arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrate Court following his arrest by the Police at Ipaja Division. Mr. T.O Shomade, the Presiding Magistrate adjourned the case till Novermber 13 while also ordering that the suspect be remanded in prison custody pending when he perfects his bail conditions. Another house of horror was, Thursday, discovered by the Kwara State police command in Ilorin, the state capital. The alleged illegal rehabilitation centre is located at Has Idiroko, Odota, along the Ilorin International Airport. A total of 108 victims were rescued by the police from the detention centre comprising 103 males, five females and scores of children. Some of the victims, who spoke to newsmen, said they were brought to the centre from different places by their parents and relatives. A victim identified as Collins Temitope, said he was brought to the centre in Ilorin from Lagos, saying “a sum of N150,000 was paid to the man in charge of the centre.” Collins, who claimed to be a graduate, described the place where he spent four days as hell, saying they were sleeping with destitute and ate once in a day. Soldiers allegedly involved in the rape of a female undergraduate in Ondo State on Wednesday have been arrested. The arrest of soldiers was confirmed on Friday by the Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Akure, Ondo State, Brig. Gen. Zakari Abubakar. Wasiu Orilonise, a 37-year-old security guard confessed to raping his 15-year-old daughter after being arraigned before Oyo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan. The suspect arraigned on one count of having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter, begged for the court for forgiveness as he claimed to have committed the said offence because he wanted to test the virginity of his daughter to protect her. The guard told the Chief Magistrate, Mr Taiwo Olaniran that he lost his wife few years ago when asked what pushed him into raping his own biological daughter. Uganda’s Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Mr Vincent Ssempijja, has announced the decision of the government on issuance of birth certificates to cows and registering of farmers, Igbere TV reports. According to reports, Ssempijja, while speaking at the official opening of the National Agricultural Show at the Source of the Nile grounds in Jinja on Tuesday, said the move was necessary, so ensure the traceability of their products and to enable them to benefit from the international market. Ssempijja said, “They (international market) want to know where the products are coming from; they have been impounding and banning all consignments from Uganda if they find one box with issues.” The minister added, “Farmers will be registered and their products are given barcodes so that if they find a problem with one box, they look for the source and sort out the problem. Five soldiers have been declared wanted by the Nigerian Army for robbing a very important person (VIP) at gunpoint. In an occurrence report obtained by SaharaReporters, the soldiers are Cpl Gabriel Oluwaniyi, Cpl Mohammed Aminu, LCpl Commander Haruna, LCpl Oluji Joshua, and LCpl Hayatudeen. According to the report, the soldiers who are now on the run are members of operation Harbin Kunama III Sokoto who were detailed on escort duty from Sokoto to Kaduna at about 3 pm on Friday. “The VIP was in a white Hilux while they where in a Buffalo gun-truck. The soldiers conived and robbed the VIP at gun point. They however abandoned the gun truck at the airstrip in Jaji. Adamo Aduku, a 104-years old World War ll Veteran of the Nigerian Army has said he is yet to receive his pension since 1957, when he was discharged as a Private from the Nigerian Army. The centenarian said this during the army day celebration held in Lagos. Aduku was one of those conferred with the Chief of Army Staff World War II Veteran Award at the 2019 Army Day Celebration in Lagos. He said, “I joined the Royal West African Frontier Force in 1942 in Markurdi, Benue State. Trained in Laguna and deployed to India during the World War II.
