Condolences to you all on the painful exit of our amiable Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN as I formally welcome you on campus for the 2022/2023 academic session.
Indeed, Professor Akanbi was an astute academic and administrator per excellence, a visionary leader, a legal luminary as well a pious philanthropist, whose vision for the University culminated into the rebranding of the University as The Green University for Community Development and Entrepreneurship. His desire was to create total graduates who will be highly innovative and enterprising, with total commitment to the environment and the community at large.
Prof. Akanbi may have transited, it is my belief that the values he showed and represented in the two and a half years of his administration as the Vice Chancellor will continue to drive us all to greater heights.
I also pray that Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Al-jannatul-firdaos, Aamin.
As the Acting Vice Chancellor, it is my goal that KWASU continues on her path of greatness which the founding fathers and previous administrators dreamt of and worked for.
Despite the unfortunate incidence of the Vice Chancellor's passing, we have commenced this session on many positive fronts. New students have resumed and are being integrated into the KWASU Community, lectures and other academic activities have commenced in earnest across faculties, and the 24 newly approved academic programmes by the National University Commission, NUC have also commenced.
The ongoing infrastructural development of our Vice Chancellor are at their various levels of completion. These include the Senate, Central Laboratory, Engineering Workshop, Faculty of Management Science, Sustainable Energy, and FIRS buildings. These structures will soon come into use for lectures, offices, and laboratories.
The future looks bright for our University and I count on every member of the KWASU Community to work towards making this Institution greater. I urge all staff and students to make the best of the opportunity.
It is important that I reiterate the need for discipline on our campus and annexes. The University remains committed to producing excellent individuals (Total Students) who will bring glory back to their alma mater.
My profound gratitude goes to staff and student unions of the University for their understanding during this trying period. I count on your continued support for the sustainability of the peace, progress, and stable academic calendar for which the University is known for.
Once again, I welcome every member of KWASU Community to campus and I wish you all a productive, eventful, and hitch free session.
Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh
(Ag. Vice Chancellor)
