Kwara State Police Commissioner Vs The Akoguns: ASKOMP Calls Out The Commissioner Over Attempt To Forcefully Get An Apology Letter

The Akoguns

Following the recent turmoil in campaign and the recent events of the fights for justice, as reported from a legit source, this is yet another disturbing trend in the city of Kwara State in Ilorin.
The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has berated Kwara state Commissioner of Police, CP Paul Odama over his bias posture in alleged defamation case involving Abdulrasheed Akogun and Dare Akogun.
ASKOMP in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Shola Salihu Taofeek and Secretary, Oyewale Oyelola described the attempt by Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, Mr Paul Odama to force the duo to write apology to petition written by Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State, Rafiu Ajakaye.
The Association noted that defamation case like other cases has process of prosecuting and it must follow thoroughly without undue influence from Kwara State Government led Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq
ASKOMP affirmed that the Akoguns are ready for formal prosecution as against shabby tactics of CP Odama to extract apology letter from the duo, forcefully.
"It is disheartening that the Police, who are supposed to maintain neutrality and demonstrate professionalism is already taking side before commencement of the case. The association members in solidarity with Abdulrasheed Akogun and Dare Akogun witnessed the charade and drama at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin on Wednesday."
ASKOMP therefore calls for immediate release of the duo to allow formal investigation and prosecution of baseless case by Rafiu Ajakaye.
The group also called  Inspector General of Police to redeploy CP Odama for incompetent, prejudice and insensitivity as we approach 2023 general elections.

Nigeria’s players are in dispute with the country’s football federation in the build-up to their Africa Cup of Nations match against Guinea. None of the Super Eagles players has received allowances or a $10,000 bonus. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hoping to prevent a strike before the match in Egypt on Wednesday. “My player [Ahmed Musa] couldn’t attend the press conference today because they have a very important meeting,” said coach Gernot Rohr. “I just hope the situation can be resolved so we can focus on what we have in front of us.” The squad was an hour late for training on Tuesday and have not ruled out taking further action. The financially stricken NFF, which receives its funding from the government, has denied it was responsible for the delay in paying the players’ bonuses. The BBC understands that the team, which has been together since early June, had received verbal assurances that they would be paid before the tournament kicked o...
