COVID-19 In Kwara: New Lockdown Policy Implemented, As 2 Coronavirus Patients Get Discharged




In the last two weeks, Kwara state has recorded four cases of coronavirus infections, following this situation; the government of Kwara State announced a total lockdown situation following its earlier two weeks lockdown. In preventing the further spread of the disease, the government has mandated that movements are strictly not allowed till further notice and it in regards the total lockdown situation had permitted its people free movement to markets in order to purchase necessary food items and also medicine stores between the times of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Today the speaker made it known in a late night news that from the four confirmed coronavirus cases, two patients have recently being discharged and let to return to their homes after they have being confirmed free of the coronavirus and undergone two confirmation tests to ensure that they were now negative of the virus.

He further announced that families of patients that confirmed positive of the virus have being met and blood samples have being collected for testing with the hope that they come out positive, though they have not shown any sign or symptom of the disease. It was said that 102 blood samples have being collected in total, with four confirmed cases while other results are yet to return. Amidst the recently discharged patients, Mr. Rafiu stated that, though it is obvious that no cure is yet found for the coronavirus but self-immunity is also playing a high impact in destroying the coronavirus in patients that test positive and hence the reason why some patients easily get treated and test negative of the virus.

In addition and generally, it has being advised that people, families and neighbors of discharged patients that initially tested positive to coronavirus and have now tested negative and confirmed should please avoid the act of “stigmatism”, it is obvious that coronavirus is real but nonetheless it is not a death sentence.



When asked about the update on the total lockdown situation and movement which had being earlier called off by the state government the first week of its start. He said the government is strictly holding to the no movement policy, but optionally people can buy or get necessary items only from nearby stores and markets on the initially stipulated days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and time has now changed from the latter (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and now movement is allowed between 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. No vehicles allowed, be it private or even commercial, as violators would be treated accordingly by security officials.
