‘Soundproof Your Churches And Mosques Or It Will Be Shut Down’ — Lagos State Govt.Issues Warning Ultimatum
Leadership reports that this ultimatum was issued by the Commissioner for the environment, Dr Samuel Adejare.

These buildings have been given 90 days to sound-proof their premises or face the consequences.
He also revealed that the state had received several complaints from residents concerning the noise from these places, hence the ultimatum.
In his words, “Various structures ranging from residential plots, uncompleted buildings, open spaces, shops and motor parks are being converted to religious worship centres which is not befitting for a mega city like Lagos.
“The paramount commandment is to love God and love your neighbour as yourselves.”
Dr. Adejare advised churches and mosques to comply with the government rules on noise levels.
Lagos is not the only state that is taking its noise pollution seriously.
In August 2017, churches and mosques in Oyo state were also given a two-week ultimatum to remove their external speakers.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Chief Isaac Ishola said,
“We are giving churches and mosques with externals speakers two weeks to remove them.
"They have been given 2 weeks to remove them. You don’t use religion to disturb others."
Clubs, bars and restaurants were also issued the same ultimatum.
