‘Soundproof Your Churches And Mosques Or It Will Be Shut Down’ — Lagos State Govt.Issues Warning Ultimatum

LadiesLodgeEnt.Leadership reports that this ultimatum was issued by the Commissioner for the environment, Dr Samuel Adejare.

Religious centres in Lagis State have been give. An ultimatum by the state government
These buildings have been given 90 days to sound-proof their premises or face the consequences.

According to the commissioner, this warning is as a result of increasing number of religious centres in residential areas.

He also revealed that the state had received several complaints from residents concerning the noise from these places, hence the ultimatum.

In his words, “Various structures ranging from residential plots, uncompleted buildings, open spaces, shops and motor parks are being converted to religious worship centres which is not befitting for a mega city like Lagos.

“The paramount commandment is to love God and love your neighbour as yourselves.”

Dr. Adejare advised churches and mosques to comply with the government rules on noise levels.
Lagos is not the only state that is taking its noise pollution seriously.

In August 2017, churches and mosques in Oyo state were also given a two-week ultimatum to remove their external speakers.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Chief Isaac Ishola said,

“We are giving churches and mosques with externals speakers two weeks to remove them.

"They have been given 2 weeks to remove them. You don’t use religion to disturb others."
Clubs, bars and restaurants were also issued the same ultimatum.

None of the Super Eagles players has received allowances or a $10,000 bonus. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hoping to prevent a strike before the match in Egypt on Wednesday. “My player [Ahmed Musa] couldn’t attend the press conference today because they have a very important meeting,” said coach Gernot Rohr. “I just hope the situation can be resolved so we can focus on what we have in front of us.” The squad was an hour late for training on Tuesday and have not ruled out taking further action. The financially stricken NFF, which receives its funding from the government, has denied it was responsible for the delay in paying the players’ bonuses. The BBC understands that the team, which has been together since early June, had received verbal assurances that they would be paid before the tournament kicked o...
