OPC LEADER, GANI ADAMS ISSUES STRONG WARNING TO NIGER DELTA MILITANTS OVER QUIT NOTICE.

Gani Adams warns that there are more Niger-Deltans in the south-west than the other way round.
He hopes that the leaders would take note of the good relationship between the south-west and south-south in considering the matter.

The OPC leader says the south-west is not comfortable with the quit notice and the Yoruba's must feel safe in the Niger Delta. National coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has warned that the matter of the quit notice issued to Yoruba's in the Niger Delta by militants must be duly taken care of.
Reports have it that Adams urged leaders of the region to call to order the militants, who under the umbrella of Niger Delta Agitators (NDA), had asked Yoruba's and Hausa-Fulani's living in the region to leave on or before October.

A statement issued by Gani Adams on Friday, August 25, said Niger Delta leaders should caution the militants. The statement read:
“We know that the position of the militants may not reflect that of their leaders. There is a need for them to speak out against the move of the group.”
It also demanded that “Yorubas must be safe in Niger Delta”.

It added: “We see the Southerners as friends but we are not in any way comfortable with the threat to quit.

“The clamp down may have an ill effect of further threat against our people in the Niger Delta region.”

Earlier reports had being made about the national coordinator of the OPC Adams had describing the group’s success over the Badoo cultists in Ikorodu in Lagos state as proof that the OPC remains a potent force in the defence of Yoruba interest.

Speaking during a training organized by the Lagos chapter of OPC in Agidigbi, Ikeja, on Tuesday, July 11, the OPC leader said the group remains consistent in the defence of Yoruba interests, despite consistent assault from political forces within the zone.

Gani Adams assured the Yoruba nation that the OPC will not abandon them. However, he said that different time requires different strategists, noting that the focus remains the same.
