THE ONLY WAY NOLLYWOOD CAN GET BETTER – MARYAM CHARLES SAYS.

Nollywood, Nigeria’s film industry has received a lot of knocks and kudos in recent times with many commending the quality of the movies. This is not saying there aren’t any films that leave much to be desired in terms of quality and other things, but with each day, the number of such movies is reducing NAIJ.com has noticed. Speaking about this actress and filmmaker Maryam Charles said there remains a lot of work to be done but in due time, Nollywood will be known worldwide.

“Nollywood can only get better at this point because everyone is stepping up their game. I’m a practitioner in this industry so I know what I am saying. No one wants to entertain mediocrity anymore and that is the only thing that can stop the industry from moving forward,” she said. Maryam who was speaking on the set of her soon to be released film On Time also added that “Now that everyone is adopting a higher standard in their works, Nollywood will soon surpass Hollywood.”

Super Eagles Players Owed Bonuses & Allowances (Read Full Gist)

Nigeria’s players are in dispute with the country’s football federation in the build-up to their Africa Cup of Nations match against Guinea. None of the Super Eagles players has received allowances or a $10,000 bonus. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hoping to prevent a strike before the match in Egypt on Wednesday. “My player [Ahmed Musa] couldn’t attend the press conference today because they have a very important meeting,” said coach Gernot Rohr. “I just hope the situation can be resolved so we can focus on what we have in front of us.” The squad was an hour late for training on Tuesday and have not ruled out taking further action.
