JOSE MURINHO |
with yet another new deal. Mourinho is to be the new face of Heineken, also an official Champions League sponsor, and the Dutch beer will launch their new campaign featuring the Portuguese coach on Tuesday, having agreed a two-year deal worth around £4 million earlier in the year.
Mourinho will be Heineken’s global football ambassador, adding to his extensive portfolio of endorsements that earn him around £10 million a year on top of his £12 million United wages.
Mourinho will star in a Heineken television commercial in which he gives a team-talk style address to supporters, encouraging them to go to the pub to watch Champions League matches. For the first season since he won the Uefa Cup with Porto in 2002-2003, Mourinho will not be competing in the Champions League this year. Louis van Gaal only managed to secure United qualification for the Europa League last season.
The Heineken commercial was filmed in Prague in April, before Mourinho took the United job, and was directed by Guy Ritchie. Mourinho mentioned his partnership with Heineken on his Instagram account earlier in the year.
Mourinho has a remarkable spread of commercial deals that have made him extremely wealthy, including Hublot watches, Jaguar, BT Sport, Adidas, Atlantis hotels, Lipton Tea and EA Sports. The Heineken commercial will be broadcast all around the world with Mourinho regarded as a bankable international name who is recognisable all over the globe. He is represented in commercial deals by the American talent agency CAA, who have moved into football in recent years.
