I can’t Wait To Learn Yoruba So I Can Sing Nigerian Songs Correctly, Toni Braxton Shares As She Commends Nigerian Culture

Toni Braxton, American R&B singer, says she looks forward to learning Yoruba, a Nigerian language, so she can sing some of the country’s indigenous songs.

The talented songstress took to her Twitter account to reveal her obsession with Nigerian culture and music.

“I’m in Nigeria. Everything is so beautiful, especially the music! I can’t wait to learn the language so that I can sing it right. Headed back home. Leaving Nigeria. Wonderful time there,” she said with a video where she is seen singing to BOJ and Teni’s track ‘OBE’.

“The food is beautiful, the people are beautiful. The music rocks.”
The R&B vocalist had headlined the celebration of Nduka Obaigbena, editor-in-chief of ThisDay Media Group’s 60th birthday.

Braxton serenaded guests who attended the event and treated them to exhilarating dance moves inviting individuals from the audience to the stage as she sang some of her hit tracks.

Tiwa Savage and Wizkid, thereafter, came on stage to entertain the crowd with a medley of songs that eventually rounded off the celebration.

The event attracted a plethora of political figures, technocrats, and bigwigs within and across the confines of the country’s upper echelon of power.

Dignitaries at the event include Emeka Ihedioha, Imo governor; Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Kwara governor; Babatunde Fashola, a former Lagos governor; and Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta governor.

Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor; and Jim Ovia, Zenith Bank founder also anchored the cutting of the birthday cake as political conversations on the state and future of Nigeria took the front seat.
