Following the recent release of the 2021 NECO Examination results which had many schools and their students emerge in flying colors and lauded with positive compliments as such; one of the states that provided the best results was Cross-Rivers State and in the light of this, the Governor made a rather shocking decision. Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade who expressed satisfaction with the performance of Cross River Indigenes in NECO SSCE in the last five years, said there was therefore the need for the state to key-in into all NECO conducted examinations, hence, he gave the approval following a request made to that effect by the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO, Prof.  Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi during a courtesy visit to the governor in Calabar.   The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it has not heard anything from the federal government since they both met last Thursday. Recall that ASUU had met with the Federal government last week, a meet that concluded they said was concluded that the government had promised to pay ASUU that week. But representative speaker for ASUU explained on Tuesday that the Federal government had not commenced payment and had not reached out after the meeting. Hence adds that the given ultimatum still stands, as ASUU had given the government three weeks and one week has passed; they are left with two weeks. ASUU had earlier given the federal government an ultimatum following the failure of the government to fulfill some of the agreements it made with the union in 2020.   Recall that back in January 2019, American actor Jussie Smollett, now 39 was hospitalized after he was reportedly injured by two men in what looks like a homophobic attack. This was during the period of his role as Jamal in the musical series Empire which later led him to not being able to continue the series to the latest episode.  The culprits were reportedly two men wearing ski masks that viciously attacked Jussie as he fought back. He suffered a fractured rib, and the attackers put a rope around his neck and poured bleach on him as they yelled, “This is MAGA country.” On apprehension, the Osundairo brothers were named in the alleged attack on Smollett.
